Artist's Description
Brokopondo Lake in Northeast Suriname has an other-worldlly feel to it with the remains of rainforest trees piercing the surface. It was created in the early 1960s by damming the Suriname River to produce electricity for processing bauxite. The lake is popular with fishermen.

I picked up a film camera when I was in my early teens and have put it down only once - In 2003 when I replaced it with a digital camera. Nature photography has been my passion from the beginning, but my portfolio has expanded over the years to include travel, street photography and blues music. As a travel journalist, now retired from the Chicago Tribune but still trekking on a freelance basis, I have photographed in more than 60 countries on all seven continents.
